Andrew Smith graduated from Vancouver Island University (formerly known as Malaspina University College) with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in 2005. He earned his Chartered Accounting designation in 2009 and is an articling member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Professionals.

Andrew earned his CA designation working for a public practice firm in Duncan, B.C. and worked on audits for municipalities, private companies and Not-for-Profit organizations.

In April 2010, Andrew and his brother received the Certificate of Merit from the Vancouver Police Department for helping to catch a criminal on a stabbing spree.
